What is REPROXIMA made from?

Post-consumer plastic — landfill-diverted, resort-recovered, and ocean-bound where certifiable. Predominantly HDPE2. The substrate is comparable to quality timber: immune to rot, salt, fungus, and time. Zero chemicals, zero binders, zero bleach. Each piece carries a Provenance ID linking the material back to the river, reef, resort, or community it came from.

Where is REPROXIMA made?

Accepted Answer

Sold globally, made locally. Each Reprox hub takes the trash of the community it stands in and gives back furniture for the rooms within walking distance. The brand is registered at Torre Piantini, Av. Gustavo Mejía Ricart, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Manufacturing is operated by Made@Scale, headquartered in Johannesburg.

How durable is the material?

Independently verified for 50+ years of structural service. The substrate is comparable to quality timber but immune to rot, termites, fungus, salt, and the passage of time. Fire-resistant, arsenic-free, non-splintering. The Plasmar composite has been certified for fire, leach, structural load, UV, salt, and freeze cycles.

How do I specify a piece for my project?

Brief us on your project — residence, hotel, headquarters, civic, hospitality. We respond within two business days with a fit, a timeline, and a provenance projection. The current collection includes SC1 Armchair, SC2 Sofa, VIP Table Collection, and Civic & Street range. Custom specifications available above a minimum quantity.

When can I see the collection in person?

The inaugural Reproxima collection launches at Salone del Mobile, Milan, in April 2027. Pre-launch site visits to the Santo Domingo studio and the Made@Scale factory in Johannesburg are available by appointment for qualified specifiers. Sample boards and the Material datasheet ship to confirmed projects.

What does the Provenance ID guarantee?

Every Reproxima piece arrives tagged with a Provenance ID — a small monospace code linking that exact piece's material back to the specific waste stream, location, and recovery date. Backed by third-party material testing and a registered audit trail. The story arrives with the furniture.

Question 7

Will it look like recycled plastic?

Accepted Answer

No. Compression-moulded panels develop dense, textured surfaces that read closer to stone or fine hardwood than to recycled plastic. Imperfect colour variation is part of the aesthetic — process as authorship. Hand-finished by master craftspeople. Designed by Stephen Pimbley with SPARK Architects.

How does pricing compare to premium hardwood?

Comparable to high-grade hardwood per piece, with two structural advantages: a 50-year warranty, and end-of-life melt-recovery into the next generation of Reproxima stock.
